If you love movies, you’ve likely been to or heard about the Monterey County Film Commission’s “Big Night Gala”-- our annual celebration of filmmaking and the Academy Awards® fundraiser that’s been held for the past 21 years.
For this year’s Oscar Night we propose a different idea: Stay at home with Oscar! You provide the TV, couch and slippers. Cozy up. We’ll provide some at-home fun for family and friends. Instead of all the expense of a glamorous night out, this year we suggest you contribute directly to our nonprofit organization< You’ll be playing an important “Supporting Role” in our efforts to keep bringing the “lights, cameras, and economic< action” to our local communities.
Stay at home this year and donate $250 to the MCFC, and you’ll get:
• Academy Awards Trivia Packet and an Oscar Winner ballot
• A “Movie Map” of films made in Monterey County
• A $50 Gift Certificate to “Toast” in Carmel Valley, a locally- owned neighborhood bistro featuring local wines, haute cuisine, and premium beer
• A complimentary “REEL Friends” yearly membership (or extended renewal)
Stay at home and donate $100 to the MCFC and you’ll get:
• A Pizza Gift Certificate—order in or use later
• A “Movie Map” of films made in Monterey County
• A complimentary “REEL Friends” yearly membership (or extended renewal)
You’ll benefit... plus you’ll feel good knowing you are helping the nonprofit MCFC and our local economy:
• Donations are Tax-Deductible • You’re helping residents keep film jobs, plus get training and skills updating • Contributions leverage MCFC’s efforts to attract more film business here--an average feature film can leave $50,000 a day in local communities when filming on location, filling hotels year-round and buying goods and services from local businesses.
Need we say more? Just write your check or note your credit card information on the enclosed envelope. We’ll take care of the rest. Then on Feb. 26, 2012 it’s the 84th Academy Awards® Presentation with host Billy Crystal...and it’s TV time in the comfort of your own home. Slippers up!
