Sleeping Beauty - From Fairy Tale to Classic Film Animation An Evening with Ron Dias, Disney Artist/ Illustrator Mark Your Calendars & Join Us on Thursday, January 25th 2007 at the Monterey Conference Center for a very special Hollywood In Your Backyard Event--An Evening with Ron Dias, Disney Artist/Illustrator Ron helped create the extraordinary images in the classic feature, “Sleeping Beauty.” Our Thursday evening event at the Monterey Conference Center (beginning at 5:30 pm) features a gallery showing and sale of Ron’s work, including books, lithographs, and prints which Ron will personally autograph; a reception with the artist, and Ron’s presentation: “Sleeping Beauty—From Fairy Tale to Classic Film Animation.” Ron will take us through the process of conception to animation in this classic feature.
The Monterey County Film Commission and the Carmel Youth Center Boards ofDirectors invite all Reel Friends members and their guests to join us for an Open House at the Carmel Youth Center Recording Studios in Carmel . These studios were used for part of the work done on Clint Eastwood’s latest movie “Flags of our Fathers.” Come get “a taste of Hollywood” as music director and studio manager Kim Edmundson presents a tour of CYC Recording Studios and the sound mixing equipment that was once owned by Academy Award-nominated composer Alan Silvestri. Kim has performed and recorded with a wide variety of artists such as Michael Jackson, George Harrison, Van Morrison, and has worked on hundreds of TV and Movie sound tracks like DANCES WITH WOLVES and DIAGNOSIS MURDER and others. He recently produced a new CD called “The Very Best of Monterey” which features All-Star musicians from the Monterey Peninsula . WHAT: A demonstration of the capabilities of the sound equipment, once owned by Alan Silvestri, and used for part of the sound mixing for “Flags of Our Fathers,” with complimentary refreshments.
