Gladsome, 1917
Neva Gerber, Ben Wilson, Hayward Mack, Willard Wayne, and Ed Brady; produced and directed by George Cochrane; Universal; five-reel Bluebird feature made at a cost of $30,000; fishing scenes filmed at McAbee Beach on Cannery Row; a cast of 30 was here for the filming; top cast members stayed at the old Hotel Del Monte, the rest at the Monterey Hotel.
The Graduate, 1967
Dustin Hoffman, Anne Bancroft and Katharine Ross; directed by Mike Nichols (Oscar winner); Embassy; comedy about an ex-student, an older woman and her daughter; Oscar nominee for Best Picture, screenplay, cinematography and acting (Hoffman, Bancroft and Ross); scenes filmed in front of the Carmelite Monastery just south of Carmel (Hoffman is shown driving the wrong-way in a mad dash up and down the coast).

Sterling Hayden, Pamela Duncan, Mary Beth Hughes, Lee Van Cleef, Byron Foulger and Ted de Corsia; directed by Carl G. Hittleman; Allied Artists; grade-B western about a gunslinger out for revenge; scenes filmed along the Monterey Peninsula coastline, including the Lone Cypress in Pebble Beach.
