Errol Flynn, Olivia de Haviland and Basil Rathbone; directed by Michael Curtiz; Warner Bros.; classic Hollywood action film; Oscar winner for musical score and nominated for Best Picture; known in movie lore as having been filmed in Chico, but there also are some scenes shot on the Monterey Peninsula.

All Men Are Enemies, 1934

Hugh Williams, Helen Twelvetrees and Mona Barrie; directed by George Fitzmaurice; Fox; romantic drama about sweethearts parted by war who are reunited at last, despite another woman; scenes filmed around Carmel.

Anna Karenina, 1935

Greta Garbo, Fredric March and Basil Rathbone; directed by Clarence Brown; MGM; Tolstoy's story of an illicit romance in the imperial court of Russia; critically acclaimed movie; race track and steeplechase scenes filmed on the Monterey Peninsula.
